| JAMES RODGERS / SHEFFIELD KNIFE PISTOL /PERCUSSION .31 CAL.
During the early percussion era, it was common to still find weapons of combination! Perhaps a lingering fear of non-ignition, or if one shot doesn't get the job done, set upon your opponent with a knife, and finish the job. James Rodgers was the earliest of the family of "Rodgers" makers. This Knife Pistol dates to about the 1840's, and is in relatively excellent condition. The "horn" slabs which comprise the side of the weapon are PERFECT! no chips, no cracks etc... They also have marvelous color to the horn. Generally , the rule is always damaged slabs.
BOTH THE LARGE BLADE, AND SMALL BLADE ARE PRESENT. Please note, that at one time in it's history the point of the larger blade must have been broken. It has been re-shaped into a "spear point", and the work is period 19th century. The small blade is original in shape and size. The mechanical action is correct, however, the hammer spring is weak, and therefore a soft hammer slam, into the percussion cap nipple. The action is correct, just slightly soft, then again this Rodgers Knife Pistol is close to 170 years old! The folding trigger works correctly, and is all original. All parts to this are original, and the blades are marked James Rodgers, Sheffield. As they say, a good value for the price. PRICE $1,295 |

| 19th CENTURY "BURGLAR" CANNON....or,
INTRUDER ALERT CANNON ( 1875 - 1890) WITH MANUFACTURER CARTOUCHE "NF", 12
GAUGE BORE.
These small Cannons could serve two purposes, depending on the user! The Cannon loads by a sideways pivoting action, then locks closed, with a "key pin" through the frame. I might add, this Cannon is very unique, as the ORIGINAL locking key is still with the Cannon ! This Cannon is fired by a Spring Loaded firing mechanism at the Breech. The Cannon is mounted on the floor, or window ledge etc...A string is tied to the large ring at the breech, and pulled back, this sets the firing pin. Then the other end is tied to a door knob, or window handle etc...When the string is pulled by opening the door or window, it releases the firing pin and BOOM ! As I said earlier, depending on how the home owner set it up, it would either deliver a loud noise for the home owner to wake up and defend himself, or the other option, deliver a devastating blast of "buck shot" to the intruder ! This Cannon has a 4 inch barrel, and it is a very STURDY constructed item. It has almost all it's ORIGINAL Black Enamel paint, with a clear and present makers cartouche. It operates perfectly, and as it did over 130 years ago. These items are quite unique, and hard to find, especially in this high level of condition, and with the original locking key. PRICE $550
